Washington's US Botanic Garden is situated in the National Mall area of Washington DC and features many beautiful, landscaped gardens. Attractions include the large iron and glass conservatory, which was designed in 1931, housing around 4,000 exotic and local plant specimens, seasonal exhibitions, colorful planting schemes in the gardens, and the new outdoor National Garden.

Located in the Arlington region of Virginia, close to Washington, Potomac Regional Park features more than 100 acres of woodlands, filled with wildlife and natural plants. There is also a nature center at the park, which displays interesting exhibits on wildlife and archaeological items. Other attractions at the park include a nature trail, herb gardens, wildflower areas and immaculate vegetable gardens.

River Farm Garden Park, in Arlington city, Virginia, was once owned by George Washington. Covering almost 30 acres, this attractive park is now owned and managed by the American Horticulture Society and features numerous attractive, landscaped, themed gardens, many of which are planted with unusual and rare plants. The large mansion is also open to the public and is full of historical memorabilia.

Rock Creek Park is located in the Woodley Park area of Washington DC, close to the Woodley Park Zoo Metro station. This large park is popular with both locals and tourists visiting Washington and features a large woodland, picnic areas, cycle trails, pathways suitable for jogging, a popular public golf course, a number of tennis courts and an interesting nature center, with information about the park's extensive wildlife.
